Benjamin Wahl, MSW - Program Director

Ben Wahl

 

Ben has worked with children, adolescents and young adults for over ten years as the director of an outdoor education program and as a staff member in wilderness therapy programs and residential treatment centers. Under the supervision of Ryther Child Center's CEO, Lee Grogg, Ben founded the Collaborative Coaching Program in 2004. Two years later, Ben founded the Ryther Outdoor Leadership Program (now Aspiring Youth). Ben holds a BA from Wesleyan University and an MSW from the University of Washington. In his free time Ben enjoys telemark skiing, rock climbing, gardening and other outdoor pursuits.

Delphi Resources Case Coordinator
Kire has more than 6 years of classroom and educational consulting experience. For the past 4 and a half years, she was an educational consultant on the Inpatient Psychiatric Unit at Seattle Children’s Hospital. Kire also spent two years teaching elementary school at Birralee International School in Norway. She holds a Masters in Education, with a focus on emotional and behavioral disabilities, from the University of Washington. Kire received a BA in Special Education and her teaching certification from Western Washington University in 2002. In her free time she enjoys running with her dog, cycling, hiking, skiing, and kite boarding.

Hannah Porter, MIT - Group Facilitator

Hannah received her BA in Gender Studies from Whitman College in 2004. In the summer of 2008, she graduated with a Master’s in Teaching from City University and completed a Special Education endorsement from Seattle Pacific University. Hannah works as a Special Education teacher for the Mercer Island School District. When not working with children, Hannah enjoys long cycling trips, knitting, and playing pool.

 

Robin Tatsuda, BA- Group Facilitator

 

 

Robin received her BA in Biology from Willamette University in 2002. Robin's first job was at Ryther Child Center in their therapeutic residential program. Robin then worked at BMAC where she held many positions, including Behavior Specialist. Meanwhile, Robin also worked at Camp Nor'wester for seven summers, three of which as Head Counselor. In addition to her work in Aspiring Youth, Robin works for the Issaquah School District as a Unique Needs Specialist. In her free time Robin enjoys various arts and crafts, playing the guitar, and going hiking and camping.

Rachel Garg, MSW - Group Facilitator

 

 

Rachel received her Master's in Social Work from the University of Washington in 2005. Since then she has worked as a behavior consultant for a local school district working with special education students at all grade levels. When not working Rachel enjoys traveling, cooking, biking, walks and plays.

Vicki Schoettle, MSW - Parent Coach/Parent Group Facilitator

  Having served in a variety of educational and mental health organizations, Vicki has a wealth of knowledge of the resources in the greater Seattle area. Among her experiences, she has served as a parent-teen mediator for the Peace Council and as a committee chair on the Seattle PTA. Vicki has maintained a private practice as a parent coach for several years and has been working with our program since 2004. Vicki holds an MSW from UCLA and is the parent of three wonderful, grown children. She is also certified as a Master Gardener.

Rebecca J Herreman, PsyD - Portland Program Coordinator

Becki, a licensed psychologist, grew up in Indiana and earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2006 from the University of Denver. She has worked clinically with children, adolescents, and their families for eight years in a number of settings and capacities including schools, wilderness programs, private practice and social skills groups. Using her mental health training, she has volunteered internationally in both Bosnia and on the Thai/Burma border. Becki spends most of her free time in Oregon, fixing up an old house or relaxing with friends on the river or trail.
